• Born between Jan 2002 and Sept 1, 2008.

Schulich Scholarship - Please complete the Brooks Schulich Leaders Nomination Form prior to Jan 19th at 9am (submit to main office or Mr. Brach):

The Schulich Leader Scholarship and Brooks nominee is someone who achieves academic excellence, exhibits leadership qualities, may have financial need, and plans to pursue a career in the area of one of the following areas: technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, or applied specific research (can not be pursuing medical field). Once Brooks nominates a student, that student has until Feb 20th to complete the Schulich Leaders Application - a link will be shared with the student from Schulich Fdtn.

To be selected by Cmolick the student must meet the following requirements: 

• Be a current resident of BC
• Have lived in Canada for at least 7 years,
• Be in Grade 12 or a recent secondary school graduate,
• Have demonstrated financial need,
• Have faced adversity,
• Plan to be a full-time student,
• Be ineligible for the BC Tuition Waiver Program (for former youth in care),
• Use funding for a post-secondary institution, trade or college, and
• Be endorsed by their school principal (Mrs. Marshman will have a endorsement letter for the nominated student)

BC Excellence Scholarship: (Concluded)

To be considered for the , students must submit a nomination form to Mrs. Larkin or Mr. Brach before Jan 19th 2024 (Nomination forms available in the counselling suite at Brooks).  If selected by the scholarship committee as Brooks BC Excellence nominee, the nominee will then complete an online application to the Ministry.  Recipient will receive a voucher worth $5,000 that can be reimbursed for post-secondary tuition paid. Eligibility requirements and application instructions can be found online at . Please note that a Brooks student must be nominated to apply through BC Excellence link online. 

Requirements for BC Excellence:

Students selected as conditional recipients of the BC Excellence scholarship must meet the following requirements by August 31 of their graduating year to be confirmed as a recipient and receive their scholarship voucher:

2. be eligible for a B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma);
3. fulfill the ; and,
4. have the following final marks:

• Minimum “B” average in grades 11 and 12 courses required for graduation
• Minimum "B" (73% or above) in Language Arts 12
• Minimum “B” average, no more than one "C+" (67% or above), and no marks lower than “C+” in courses that fulfill graduation requirements for Science 11 or 12, Math 11, and Social Studies 11 or 12

Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship:

This Scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to and aptitude for a career in K–12 teaching. Recipients receive a $5,000 scholarship voucher that they can use to be reimbursed by the Ministry of Education for tuition paid after they are attending an . There is no Brooks nominat $ion form required in order to apply for this scholarship.

The requirements for the Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship are the same as the BC Excellence above #1-4. 

Note: students may apply for both the and the but they can only be awarded one.

*Students have seven years to their Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship vouchers; an expiry date is printed on each voucher and extensions are not possible.

Living With Foundation:

To support youth in their transition out of high school and amplify their voices in the mental health conversation, B.C. students can apply for a $1,000 scholarship that has no restrictions to the use of the funds. This means that any high school graduate can apply and win, whether they are pursuing post-secondary education or forging their own unique path into adulthood.  

 This year’s written response theme is ‘What Mental Health Means To Me.’ Applications are open until April 30, 2024. More information and how to apply can be found at .  

Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities:  

These scholarships provide financial support to Canadian youth with disabilities looking to complete a 1- to 4- year post-secondary program. Funding of up to $40,000 is available.

BCSSA

 will award six regional scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies. Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2024. One winner will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters (Fraser Valley, Kootenay-Boundary, Metro, Vancouver Island, Northern, Thompson-Okanagan). Each winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Chem 12 Students: Hebden Bursary Award:

• The student has or will have completed Chemistry 12 by the end of June 2024
• The student can demonstrate plans to continue the study of chemistry, or studies related to Chemistry, at a recognized post-secondary institution 
• The student must have performed service for their school and/or community while maintaining grades in science that are necessary in a post-secondary education
• The student must also include a letter of reference from a teacher. Note that this letter must state their GPA for Grade 11 and their cumulative GPA to date in Grade 12

BC School Sports:

• Be enrolled in and participated in a minimum of one BCSS Sanctioned Sport at a BCSS Member School during their grade 12 year for the Zone scholarship and particpated in at least two sanctioned BCSS sports during their grade 12 year to be considered for the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship. 
• Be graduating this year and will be entering their first year of full-time studies at an “Accredited Post-Secondary Institution”. 
• Have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement in a BCSS activity and, have a minimum grade percentage of 75%.

Who Can Apply?
 We are looking for students who have experienced or are currently navigating the effects of stigma due to mental illness, LGBTQ2+, homelessness, race, addiction, or related experiences. If your journey has been marked by any of these obstacles or similar challenges, we want to hear from you.

Storwell Bursary:

Eligibility

Applicant must have been a foster child with an official Canadian or American foster care program and agrees to having the above organization verify the same.

Canadian or American Citizen or Permanent Resident

Applicant must be 24 years of age or less at the time of application

Winner agrees to having his/her name, photo and post secondary institution displayed on the Storwell website.

VIU Presidents & Chancellors Entrance Awards:

Brooks students wishing to apply for these will need to be nominated by the Brooks Administration. Students wishing to apply will need to let Mrs. Larkin or Mr. Brach know late March of each school year.

Presidents Criteria:

- Early April Brooks admin will identify the top academic students and determine if they are VIU bound. If they are planning to attend then the principal will complete the endorsement form. Student must have 90% of higher mark in all Grade 11 and 12 academic courses (4 rigorous academics in each grade). 

Chancellors Criteria:

- Available to top academic Gr 12 Aboriginal student from First Nations communities, Friendship Centres, or Metis Organizations on Vancouver Island (Incl PR).  Early April Brooks admin will identify the top Aboriginal students and determine if they are VIU bound. If they are planning to attend then the principal will complete the endorsement form. Student must have 90% of higher mark in all Grade 11 and 12 academic courses (4 rigorous academics in each grade). 

BC General Employees Union Scholarship:

To ! $2000 for full time students or $1000 for part time post sec students. 
In order to apply students must be a BCGEU member and planning to attend post secondary. There are two parts to the application: personal statement and essay or video. 

Jeremy Dias Scholarship: Concluded for this year 

 
Jeremy Dias Scholarship seeks to recognize a youth who has taken initiative in addressing discrimination towards 2SLGBTQIA+ folks in their school or community.  
 The successful students must be living in Canada and planning to attend post-secondary school the follow year, and who have worked to eliminate discrimination towards 2SLGBTQIA+ folks within their school or community, as demonstrated by their application essay and references. 
Applications must be submitted by email to the by Sunday, December 31st, 2023 by 11:59pm EST. Winner(s) will be selected and contacted by March 2024.
